A Bold Biophilic Lounge
The Brief
The lounge was primarily used by the family in the evening, yet felt like a cold and uninviting place to spend time. Creating a relaxing haven was key to the brief and the reference point for all decisions.
The colour palette was inspired by the bold colours often found in nature, with rich greens and burnt oranges which were carried through in wall colour, playful tiles and all core furniture .
The biggest improvement that helped to connect the room to the outdoors was to remove the voiles from the windows. Not only has this helped the natural light to come flooding in, but the views to the abundance of nature outside can now be enjoyed throughout the day.
Plants featured heavily throughout the room adding warmth and texture, alongside the biomorphic ceiling light which offers a real statement to the space. Whereas I could see leaf patterns, others have commented it feels like honeycomb.
Floral patterns were introduced through the rug, artwork and soft furnishings and layered lighting to be enjoyed in the evening was brought in with statement lamps.
Now it has become the most enjoyed room in the house. A space to fully relax and connect to the surrounding countryside.
